The Eastern Plains, locally known as "los llanos", occupies the 30% of the country's surface with large wetlands, meadows full of life, sinuous and abundant rivers, and riparian forest, a great habitat for the largest rodent, the capibara, and the biggest snake of the world, the incredible Green Anaconda, surprising groups of caimans, burrowing owls making their nests underground and an enormous variety of birds, amphibians, birds and arthropods. It is also a refuge for the biggest cat of america, the Jaguar, and its relative, the Puma.

HATO LA AURORA RESERVE is a large agricultural property in the middle of the llanos and excellent refuge for the abundant wildlife of this region. Offers the possibility to observe in these areas hundreds of animals including caimans, turtles, capibaras, many species of birds including Whistling Herons, Scarlet Ibises, Roseatte Sponnbills, and also the chance to see the Jaguar and other wild cats including the Puma and Yaguaroundi.
